What is the correct method to force restart Mac when it stops responding?

In case the Mac has completely stopped responding, it may be necessary to do a force restart. This can be done by holding down the Power button of the Mac for about 10 seconds, or until the screen goes off. After this, the Power button is pressed again to force restart Mac back on. This process forces the Mac to shut down, but this does not close applications normally, and data may be lost. This process of forcing the restart of the Mac should only be done if the Mac has actually frozen and cannot be restarted using other methods.
